PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Kazama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kris Kazama!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kazama shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Green as he jumps to the side.
Kazama has a takedown stuffed.
Green throws the left hand but Kazama avoids the punch easily.
Kazama blocks a head kick by Green.
Kazama dodges the punch combination from Green.
A telegraphed right hand from Green misses the target.
Green looks to land a right hand but Kazama moved out of range.
Danny Green seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Green throws a hook to the side of Kazama's head but Kazama sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Kazama scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Green seems a little lost for a moment, as Kazama dominates the positioning.
Kazama trying to control the action but Green is working from the bottom.

Kazama wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Green, who protects the arm well.

Kazama stands up.
Danny Green is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kazama fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Danny Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kris Kazama.
Green lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nice combo by Green! Oh, that's hurt him - Kazama falls to the canvas and Green follows him into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kazama uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Green.
Kazama steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Green.
Kazama moves in looking to clinch but Green pushes him off.

Green sizes up Kazama with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Kazama avoids a punch combination nicely.
Good standup being displayed there by Green as he connects with a hook.
Green throws a hook to the side of Kazama's head but Kazama sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Green paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Green misses the jab.
Kazama throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Green's head.

Kazama rushes Green and presses him up against the cage.
Green is trying to break free.
Kazama drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kazama can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kazama has a closed guard, preventing Green from standing up.

Green stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Green tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kazama was well out of range. Poor timing from Green.
Green is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Green misses with a looping left.
Kazama shoots for a double leg takedown but Green sprawls well. He's pushed Kazama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kazama paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kazama tries to close the distance and clinch up but Green swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kazama fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Green throws a right and a left that both miss.

Kazama shoots for a double leg takedown but Green sprawls well. He's pushed Kazama's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kazama bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Green is trying to buck Kazama off.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kazama ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Green lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Green misses with a hook.
Green looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kazama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kazama gets a takedown into half guard.
Kazama lands strikes from half guard.

Kazama decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Kris Kazama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kazama tries to clinch but Green is having none of it.

Kazama showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Green.

Kazama rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Green moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kazama is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kazama closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kazama lands in his opponent's guard.

Green pushes Kazama off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Green on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Green misses with a hook. Kazama ducked under it nicely.
Green throws a nice looking combination but Kazama bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kazama shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Green's guard.

Green throws an overhand right that lands on Kazama's shoulder, as Kazama tries to avoid the shot.

and Kazama counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kazama.

Kazama misses with a body kick.

Kazama shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Green's guard.

Green manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kazama shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kazama was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kazama postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Green looks a forlorn figure.
Kazama looking to control but Green is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Green is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Kazama tries to control but Green wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kris Kazama showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Green changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice defenses there by Kazama.
Kazama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Green misses with a straight left.

Kazama scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kazama is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kazama stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Green to get to his feet.

A combination from Green does no damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Green jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Kazama.
Kazama throws a one two combo.
Kazama moves out of range as Green strikes.
Kazama tries to close the distance and clinch up but Green swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kazama fails in his attempt to clinch.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kazama.
Kazama shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Green pinned against the cage. Green gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Green cracks Kazama with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Green fails to land with a series of punches.

Kazama closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kazama lands in his opponent's guard.
Kazama stops Green from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kazama trying to control but Green is working from the bottom.
Kazama controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Kazama drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Green dives on top into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kazama has a closed guard, preventing Green from standing up.
Kazama wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kazama looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Green has picked Kazama up and slammed him! Kazama can't keep hold of the triangle and Green manages to pass to side control!

Green decides to stand back up. Green steps back and let's Kazama get back to his feet.
Green fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kazama manages to avoid it.

Kazama shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kazama showed some decent athleticism there.
Kazama is keen to just control but Green is a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kris Kazama comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kazama has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
