Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucio Francisco Carmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carmo comes to the cage accompanied by Rolling Stones - Paint it, Black. Lucio Francisco Carmo had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 266.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucio Francisco Carmo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Hemmingworth and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carmo avoids the head kick by Ortiz.

Carmo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ortiz manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ortiz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Carmo is working for a kimura but Ortiz is defending it quite comfortably.

Ortiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carmo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Carmo works his foot free and advances to mount.

Carmo has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ortiz squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Carmo lands with some strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carmo feints and as Ortiz raises his hands in defense, Carmo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ortiz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Lucio Francisco Carmo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Carmo pushing down on Ortiz's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Carmo working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ortiz turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Carmo off and cradles Ortiz's limp body as Carmo celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Lucio Francisco Carmo!
