The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mata throws a left and a right that both miss

and Beast counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Mata manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Mata tries to break free but Beast pushes him back against the cage.

Beast pulls guard successfully.
Mata wants to stand but Beast is controlling his posture from full guard.
Beast not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Beast is looking to cinch up a triangle. Mata throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Beast's body to avoid the submission. Beast has instead reached around Mata's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Beast arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
