PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Caol Dos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donold Trenchard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Caol Dos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donold Trenchard!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trenchard dives in for a single leg takedown but Dos sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Dos darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Trenchard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dos circles away.
Dos lands a glancing blow to the side of Trenchard's head.

Dos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Dos is fighting off a takedown attempt but Trenchard is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dos to the mat. Dos regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Dos is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Trenchard presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Trenchard wants to take the fight to the mat but Dos manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Caol Dos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donold Trenchard.
Trenchard drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Trenchard comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Dos creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Dos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Trenchard lands with a kick to the temple. Dos shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Dos connects with a single shot there.
Dos misses with a series of wild punches.
Trenchard fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Dos darts in and clinches Trenchard up against the cage.

Trenchard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Trenchard throws a head kick but Dos moves out of range.
Dos throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dos pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Trenchard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dos is looking to counter punch.
Trenchard is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Trenchard jumps guard but Dos turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A short right from Dos on the inside.
Dos looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Still in the clinch, Dos scores with a nice short uppercut.
Trenchard is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dos gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Dos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dos scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Dos closes the distance and pushes Trenchard back into the cage.
Trenchard goes for a takedown attempt but Dos pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Trenchard gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Trenchard takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Dos has taken the fight to the clinch.

Trenchard gets control of Dos's arms and successfully pulls guard. Trenchard will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Dos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dos is really struggling to control Trenchard but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Trenchard feints and as Dos raises his hands in defense, Trenchard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Dos scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Dos scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Trenchard avoids the body shot from Dos.
Dos stuffs the takedown.
Dos keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dos works the jab nicely.
Dos lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Dos.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Trenchard takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Trenchard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Trenchard misses with a takedown attempt - Dos sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caol Dos dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Trenchard tries for a takedown but Dos sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dos throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Trenchard with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Dos to score with a decent uppercut.
Dos slaps away a takedown attempt from Trenchard, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from Dos. Those never looked like landing.
Trenchard shoots in but no luck this time.
Caol Dos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donold Trenchard.
Trenchard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dos is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Trenchard can do to turn this around?

Dos cracks Trenchard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Dos is working for a guillotine from mount but Trenchard frees his head quite easily.
Trenchard felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Trenchard is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Trenchard wants to control but Dos is having none of it.
Caol Dos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Trenchard is looking to escape.

Dos is landing with some decent strikes but Trenchard is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Dos looking to control but Trenchard is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Trenchard slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dos lands a nice short elbow.
Trenchard is refusing to be controlled, as Dos sits in half guard.
Trenchard wants to control but Dos is keeping busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dos uses his free foot to push down on Trenchard's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Trenchard.
Dos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Trenchard is looking to escape.

Trenchard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dos is working away from the top position though.
Dos works his foot free and advances to mount.

Trenchard is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caol Dos dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

and Dos counters with a shoot takedown. Trenchard fights it but they end up in guard.
Dos wants to pass the guard but Trenchard is keeping the position.
Trenchard wants to get back to his feet but Dos is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Trenchard is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Dos sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Trenchard's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dos is looking for a kimura here.
Dos is keen to just control but Trenchard is a slippery customer.
Trenchard is looking for a sweep. Dos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are battling for position here. Trenchard manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Dos stands and steps away. Trenchard gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Dos fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Trenchard, pushing him back against the cage.

Trenchard has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Still in the clinch, Dos scores with a nice short uppercut.
Trenchard goes for a takedown attempt but Dos pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Dos gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Trenchard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Trenchard would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dos wants to sweep but no luck.
Trenchard wants to control from the top but Dos keeps moving.

Trenchard passes into half guard.
Trenchard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dos keeps working.
Dos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Trenchard is working for a kimura but Dos is defending it quite comfortably.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dos is positioning himself well to prevent Trenchard advancing to mount.
Trenchard seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Donold Trenchard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Caol Dos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dos is looking for a kimura but Trenchard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dos to get the leverage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Caol Dos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
