PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Banzai Bunji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denny Crane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bunji might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to One More Time. Denny Crane will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Banzai Bunji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Denny Crane!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Crane misses its intended target.
Crane fails to land the takedown.
Bunji shoots in but no luck this time.
Crane tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bunji swivels and escapes.
Crane fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Banzai Bunji has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Denny Crane.
Crane throws a jab but it's blocked by Bunji.
Bunji tries to clinch up.
Bunji gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Crane.
Crane tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bunji swivels and escapes.
Bunji tries to close the distance and clinch up but Crane swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Bunji shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bunji was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bunji cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Crane is trying desperately to improve position.

Bunji trying to control but Crane is having none of it.
Bunji manages to capitalize on a mistake by Crane to take his back!
Bunji is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bunji gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bunji gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bunji apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Bunji wants to clinch.
A swing and a miss from Crane.
Bunji moves in looking to clinch but Crane pushes him off.

Bunji closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

Crane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Crane drops Bunji with a nice combination! Crane dives into Bunji's guard, looking to finish!

Bunji is rocked!

It looks like Banzai Bunji has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Crane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Crane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Oh Bunji is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Crane drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bunji looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bunji looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bunji!
Crane looks gassed!

Crane is trying to get back to half guard.
Bunji gets to mount! Crane was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Bunji wants to finish this one by submission but Crane is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bunji.
Crane is squirming around, avoiding Bunji's attempts to control the action.

Crane sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bunji is looking to advance position but Crane won't allow it.

Bunji is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Crane is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Bunji pulls his head out easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Denny Crane dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Banzai Bunji's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Crane throws a series of punches but Bunji avoids them all with ease.
Crane avoids the head kick by Bunji.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bunji looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Crane throws a lazy right hand but Bunji sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Bunji scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bunji in particular looking to stall.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Crane avoids the head kick by Bunji.
Bunji fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Crane rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bunji moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Bunji instigates a clinch.
Crane is trying to maintain a safe position but Bunji gets an underhook and turns Crane into the ropes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Crane is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Bunji has denied him.

Bunji pulls guard successfully.

Crane postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bunji is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Crane, into his guard.
Bunji has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bunji decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Crane fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Crane gets a takedown into half guard.

Crane wants to work for an arm triangle but Bunji is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Crane has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Bunji defend it? Crane steps over the head and cranks it - Bunji is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Crane!
