The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wanderlei tries to clinch up but DeCicco circles away and keeps his distance.
Frankie DeCicco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
DeCicco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Wanderlei feints and as DeCicco raises his hands in defense, Wanderlei changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wanderlei scoring with some ground and pound.
DeCicco striking off his back but it's not causing Wanderlei any problems.

DeCicco is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wanderlei defends well.
DeCicco knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wanderlei on the ground.
Wanderlei is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Wanderlei wants to pass the guard but DeCicco is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DeCicco shoots for a double leg takedown but Wanderlei sprawls well. He's pushed DeCicco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Wanderlei tries to counter with a clinch but DeCicco shakes him off and moves away.

DeCicco is wriggling around but Wanderlei manages to pass to half guard.
DeCicco is breathing heavily.

Wanderlei has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
