PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Basurto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akheem Flynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Basurto's entrance music is Tapout - Birdman. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flynn throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Basurto is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Flynn.

Flynn gets the takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Flynn decides to stand up, so the ref orders Basurto to his feet.
Flynn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Flynn closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Flynn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Flynn closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Flynn is keen to just control but Basurto is a slippery customer.

Flynn stands up and beckons Basurto to join him on the feet.

Flynn feints and as Basurto raises his hands in defense, Flynn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Basurto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Flynn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Basurto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Flynn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Basurto pushes a forearm under Flynn's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Flynn is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
