Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarod Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackson Santio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jarod Gibbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jackson Santio!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs slaps away a takedown attempt from Santio, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Santio closes the distance and clinches.
Santio tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Santio is trying to drag Gibbs to the mat but Gibbs just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jarod Gibbs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Santio.
Santio wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gibbs has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Santio trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gibbs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Santio feints a counter leg kick.
Santio keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Gibbs clinches up with Santio and pushes him back against the cage.
Gibbs presses Santio against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Santio jumps guard but Gibbs stands there with Santio around his waist. Santio gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santio tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gibbs just stands there and leans against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Santio just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gibbs's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Gibbs counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Gibbs remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Gibbs seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Santio for as long as he can get away with.

Santio fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gibbs avoids it really well and circles away.

Gibbs goes for a double leg but Santio avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Santio continues to drive forward.

It looks like Jarod Gibbs has been cut.
Jackson Santio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santio lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gibbs has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santio uses from the top position.

Gibbs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Santio's guard.
