PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Dayrit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Falcao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josh Dayrit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andre Falcao!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Falcao swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dayrit throws a combination that misses

and Falcao counters by clinching up.
Dayrit drops down looking for an ankle pick but Falcao pulls his leg out and moves away.
Falcao circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dayrit avoids the head kick by Falcao.
Dayrit is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Falcao.

Falcao closes the distance and clinches.

Falcao turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Falcao tries to move into full mount but can't pass Dayrit's legs.
Dayrit tries to buck Falcao off but Falcao is having none of it.
Dayrit is trying to control Falcao's posture but Falcao avoids it.
Falcao misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The ground and pound from Falcao seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Dayrit manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dayrit is looking to improve his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Falcao in particular looking to stall.
It looks like Falcao might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Falcao looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Falcao rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dayrit moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dayrit feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Falcao wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Dayrit manages to pass to side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Falcao looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dayrit with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Falcao unleashes a big counter combination but Dayrit bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dayrit wants to control the action here but instead Falcao manages to pass to full mount!

Andre Falcao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Falcao shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dayrit is trying to defend but Falcao finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Dayrit lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Falcao backs up against the cage.
Dayrit throws the kick towards the body but Falcao avoids it.
Dayrit tries to close the distance and clinch but Falcao swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Dayrit gets caught napping as Falcao dives in and scores a takedown. Dayrit manages to retain guard.

Dayrit might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

I would just about give that final round to Andre Falcao.
