Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rogelio Clayton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Pinto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogelio Clayton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Pinto!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clayton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Clayton lands in his opponent's guard.

Pinto is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Clayton presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Pinto has hold of one of Clayton's legs. Clayton is fighting the takedown attempt but Pinto gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Clayton is striking from the bottom but Pinto uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pinto in particular looking to stall.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pinto is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Pinto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Clayton regains full guard. Nicely done.
Pinto throwing strikes but missing.
Pinto showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Pinto throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Clayton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Pinto controls from within his opponent's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Clayton is trying to keep Pinto in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Pinto fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Clayton to the ground. Pinto is now in Clayton's guard.
Pinto postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Clayton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Pinto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Clayton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pinto wants to control but Clayton is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Clayton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Pinto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clayton is working away from the top position though.

Pinto manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Clayton keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Pinto wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Clayton tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pinto is leaning against Clayton and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pinto has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Clayton regains guard immediately.
Clayton wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pinto manages to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joao Pinto dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Pinto gets a clinch.
Pinto has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Clayton tries to pull guard but Pinto holds him up against the cage and eventually Clayton drops back down to his feet.

Pinto gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Clayton kicks Pinto off and gets to his feet.

Clayton tries to sprawl but Pinto drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Clayton is trying to stand back up but Pinto is controlling him
Pinto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pinto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pinto is keen to just control but Clayton is a slippery customer.
Pinto seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Clayton regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Pinto.
Pinto is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pinto is pushing down on Clayton's leg trying to pass to half guard. Clayton is fighting to maintain full guard but Pinto has managed to sneak the leg through.
Clayton has a hand on Pinto's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Pinto takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Pinto controlling the pace for now.
Pinto throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Pinto controlling his opponent.

Pinto jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Clayton manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Pinto decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Pinto has managed to clinch.

Pinto gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Clayton regains guard.
Clayton is wriggling around but Pinto manages to pass to half guard.

Pinto is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pinto moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Clayton.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Pinto decides to stand back up. Pinto steps back and let's Clayton get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joao Pinto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Pinto forces Clayton back against the cage and clinches.

Pinto tightens his grip and picks Clayton up, before dumping him to the ground. Clayton manages to land in guard.

Clayton pushes Pinto off and scrambles back to his feet.
Pinto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Clayton throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pinto.

Pinto feints and as Clayton raises his hands in defense, Pinto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Clayton wants to stand and escape but Pinto is having none of it.
Clayton thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Pinto loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Pinto pushing down on Clayton's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Clayton is trying to stand back up but Pinto is controlling him
Pinto not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Clayton keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pinto thows a huge punch but Clayton dodges it nicely.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Pinto shoots in and gets a takedown into Clayton's guard.
Pinto controls from within his opponent's guard.
Clayton preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pinto sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Let's hope that Pinto has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Clayton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pinto looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Clayton kicks off Pinto and gets to his feet.

Clayton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pinto swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rogelio Clayton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pinto fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Clayton, pushing him back against the cage.

Pinto pulls guard effortlessly.
Clayton is in close to Pinto's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Pinto looking to control.
Pinto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pinto is controlling the pace.
Rogelio Clayton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joao Pinto is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Pinto gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

I've got Pinto winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
