Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magomedov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Joe changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Magomedov throws a nice looking combination but Joe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Joe comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Joe avoids the head kick by Magomedov.

Joe closes the distance and pushes Magomedov back into the ropes.

Joe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Magomedov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've been informed that Magomedov has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Magomedov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Joe scores with a couple of nice shots.

Joe is just content to waste time from the top position. Magomedov takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Magomedov has momentary wrist control but Joe slips an elbow through the middle.

Joe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Joe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Magomedov's guard.
Magomedov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Joe takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Joe slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Joe misses with a few strikes there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A solid leg kick lands there for Joe.
Joe has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Magomedov.
Magomedov connects with a high kick.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Magomedov motions for Joe to come forward. Magomedov throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Joe throws a counter high kick but Magomedov was just alert enough to avoid it.

It looks like Big Joe has been cut.
Joe lands with a kick to the temple. Magomedov shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Joe drops down looking for a counter takedown but Magomedov sprawls and moves away.
Joe moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Joe jumps guard and drags Magomedov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Magomedov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Magomedov wanted to stand there but Joe had control of the position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Joe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Joe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Magomedov quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Joe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Magomedov defend it? Joe steps over the head and cranks it - Magomedov is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Joe!
