The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maynard pushes Kane up against the cage in a clinch.

Kane manages to pull guard.

Maynard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maynard has managed to get both his arms back between Kane's legs - danger averted.
Kane manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maynard manages to get himself to full guard.

Kane gets to his feet. Maynard looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Kane goes for a double leg but Maynard avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Maynard continues to drive forward.

Maynard drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

We've been informed that Maynard has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Kane is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Maynard is controlling him well.

Maynard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Maynard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kane shoots in for a takedown but Maynard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Maynard clinches up against the cage.

Maynard 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kane is trying to pull guard but Maynard has him pressed against the cage.

Maynard thumps Kane with a low kick.

Maynard throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kane was covering up waiting for the punch and Maynard finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kane is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Maynard defends well.

Kane has his foot on Maynard 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maynard works his way back into a safe position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
