Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malcom Weiss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tank Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tank Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malcom Weiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tank Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weiss uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Johnson.
A head kick misses from Weiss.
Johnson looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Johnson gets a takedown into half guard.
Johnson throwing shots but Weiss is blocking nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Weiss is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Weiss looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Weiss actively working from the bottom here.
Johnson is pressing down on Weiss's thigh, looking to free his foot. Weiss is holding on for now.

Weiss has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Johnson escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Johnson!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Weiss stops Johnson from passing to mount.
Weiss has one of Johnson's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Weiss is not content to let Johnson control the position.
Weiss is looking for a sweep.

Weiss is desperately trying to improve his position but Johnson has a good base and remains in mount.

Weiss wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Johnson.
Johnson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Weiss keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Weiss bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Johnson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Weiss is one step ahead there.

Johnson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Weiss is fighting to break Johnson's control of his arms but Johnson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Weiss gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting.

Johnson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Weiss tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Johnson is in Weiss's guard.
Weiss pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tank Johnson dominated that round.
That's time! Weiss's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Johnson lands a left hand that snaps the head of Weiss backwards.
Weiss managing to block the knees to the body from Johnson.
Johnson effectively controlling the action here.

Johnson gets control of Weiss's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet.
Weiss slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson controls Weiss momentarily but Weiss frees himself.

Johnson pushes Weiss off and gets back to his feet.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Weiss throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson throws a right hand that Weiss ducks under and follows up with a left that Weiss also avoids with ease.

Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Weiss, pushing him back against the cage.
Weiss creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Johnson blocks an uppercut.
Weiss is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Weiss stalling in the clinch but Johnson improves position.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Weiss gets tackled into the cage by Johnson. Johnson maintains the clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Johnson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Johnson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Weiss can't fight it off and eventually Johnson manages to take the fight to the floor. Weiss looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Johnson stands up and waves to Weiss to follow him.
Weiss shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls well. He's pushed Weiss's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Weiss shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
Johnson is trying to control the position but Weiss postures up.

Weiss stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Weiss displaying some good clinch control by pressing Johnson up against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Weiss - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Johnson.
Weiss misses with some punches.
Johnson blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Johnson successfully pulls guard.

Johnson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Johnson feints and as Weiss raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tank Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Johnson clinches.

Johnson wants the takedown. Weiss is fighting it off but Johnson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Weiss's guard against the cage.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Weiss has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Weiss's legs - danger averted.

Weiss has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though.

Weiss gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. Weiss manages to retain guard.

Weiss throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Johnson escapes and throws Weiss's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Weiss stops Johnson from passing to mount.
Weiss might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Johnson sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Weiss is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
You can see the frustration on Weiss's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Weiss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Johnson is working away from the top position though.
Johnson wants to stand but Weiss has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Weiss drives through with a takedown into Johnson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
