Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Numbers Sexton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Wa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Numbers Sexton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Wa!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wa lands a left and a right that send Sexton crashing to the mat, dazed. Wa thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Numbers Sexton has been cut.

Wa closes the distance and clinches.

Sexton is fighting off a takedown attempt but Wa is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sexton to the mat. Sexton regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sexton being controlled here, momentarily.
Sexton keeping moving, preventing Wa from controlling successfully.
Wa controls from within his opponent's guard.

Wa throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sexton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Wa is in close to Sexton's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Wa is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Wa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wa tries to free his leg and advance position but Sexton is retaining full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wa looks to throw a body kick

and Sexton counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wa!
Sexton in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Sexton in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Sexton is working Wa over with some ground and pound from side control.
Check out the look on Sexton's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Wa wants to control but Sexton postures up.
Sexton gets to mount! Wa was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Wa regains half guard.
Sexton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sexton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wa taking some punishment here, with Sexton in his half guard.
Sexton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Sexton prevents Wa from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wa trying to hold on to Sexton's head to control him but Sexton postures up.
Sexton not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Wa wants to stand back up but Sexton manages to pass into side control.
Wa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Sexton really is a fat lump.

Sexton misses with the ground and pound.
Wa manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sexton's best efforts.
Sexton drops an elbow to the side of Wa's head.

Sexton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's time! Sexton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sexton is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Sexton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wa smiles and moves away.
Wa throws a combination that misses

and Sexton counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sexton.

Wa pushes Sexton off and gets back to his feet.
Wa misses with a body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sexton is looking to stand up but Wa won't let him.

Wa pushes Sexton off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wa enables Sexton to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wa wants to sweep but no luck.
Wa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sexton wants to stand but Wa is controlling his posture from full guard.

Wa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sexton defends well.
Wa is breathing heavily.

Wa wants to sweep but no luck.
Sexton content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Sexton lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Sexton is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Sexton trying to stand up but can't free himself from Wa's guard.
Numbers Sexton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wa trying to keep a closed guard but Sexton is proving a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Wa.

Wa tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
What's Sexton going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Wa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sexton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sexton is trying to control Wa's posture but Wa avoids it.

Wa decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sexton to his feet.

Wa has Sexton up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ben Wa will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Wa takes the fight into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wa controls Sexton momentarily but Sexton frees himself.

Sexton lands a couple of elbows.

Wa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wa striking off his back.
Wa punching from the bottom - just letting Sexton know he's still in a fight.
Sexton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wa manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Wa pulls guard effortlessly.
Wa striking off his back but it's not causing Sexton any problems.

Wa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sexton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sexton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wa takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wa throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Sexton stands and steps away. Wa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wa clinches.
Sexton tries a body shot but Wa blocks it.

Wa decides to pull guard.
Sexton postures up.
Wa has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Sexton has passed into side control.
Wa takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
A control attempt from Wa but he's now mounted!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wa working to try and regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sexton scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Wa is desperately trying to improve his position but Sexton has a good base and remains in mount.
Wa is trying to stand up.
Sexton prevents Wa from getting the reversal.
Wa is bucking up trying to escape but Sexton cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Sexton landing strikes, looking to finish!
You get the feeling that Wa really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Sexton landing strikes from the mount and Wa is in trouble!
Wa tries to hold on but Sexton pushes him away.
Sexton fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Sexton connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Wa really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sexton lands with some strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sexton lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Sexton looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Sexton lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The referee warns Wa that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Numbers Sexton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ben Wa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Wa can't escape the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Numbers Sexton showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Wa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
