The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith feints a jab promting Jenkins to slip. Smith then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jenkins slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
It looks like Brason Jenkins has been cut.
Jenkins shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Smith throws a combination. Jenkins tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Smith tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jenkins counters with a nice body shot.
Jenkins swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith.

and Jenkins counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jenkins.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Let's hope that Jenkins has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jenkins wants to stand and escape but Smith is having none of it.
Jenkins is pulling down on Smith's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith, at least for the moment.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jenkins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smith tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jenkins is in Smith's guard.

Brason Jenkins is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Jenkins not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rashaam Smith.
I think Jenkins has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
