PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Mosby (ranked 119 p4p, 20 weight class) and Lao Shin (ranked 77 p4p, 11 weight class). Shin has chosen Shaolin Chamber of Death as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Mosby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Lao Shin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shin misses the shot to the body.
Mosby throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A slow jab from Shin misses its intended target.
Shin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A punch lands to the side of Shin 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Shin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mosby looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Mosby moves out of range as Shin throws a body kick.
Mosby connects with a nice looking jab.
Mosby throws a lazy right hand but Shin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Shin only half commits to the counter leg kick.
A shot to the body from Mosby misses
and Mosby takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shin misses with a lunging right hand
and Mosby cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shin on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mosby. Mosby obviously looking to wear him down.
Mosby avoids the body shot from Shin.
Shin moves forwards but Mosby connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Mosby scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Mosby appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Shin throws a hook but Mosby blocks it.

Mosby fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shin to the ground. Mosby is now in Shin's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Shin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mosby gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mosby keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shin's head.
Shin is pulling down on Mosby's head. It's preventing any offense from Mosby, at least for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mosby drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mosby has Shin in his guard.

Daniel Mosby overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Shin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mosby.
Mosby fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

A solid leg kick lands there for Shin.
Mosby throws a leg kick but Shin sees it coming and moves out of range.
Daniel Mosby is winning the standup battle so far.
Shin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mosby manages to avoid it.
Mosby throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shin's waist but Shin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mosby off to one side.
Shin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Mosby fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shin manages to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shin lands a left and a right that send Mosby crashing to the mat, dazed. Shin thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Shin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mosby fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shin is out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lao Shin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Mosby cracks Shin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Mosby throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shin looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Shin misses with a left hand
and Mosby counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Shin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mosby.
Shin throws a lazy right hand but Mosby sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Shin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mosby thinking.
Mosby is looking to wear down Shin with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mosby closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Shin's guard.
Shin wants to control the position but Mosby says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mosby is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shin is just riding it out for now. Mosby eventually gives up the hold.

Shin pulls Mosby in to control the position.
Mosby is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Shin is adopting a defensive guard.

Mosby drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shin!

Mosby is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Shin's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Shin! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Mosby has tapped! This one is allllll over!
