PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Jourgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Gauthier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jourgensen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Imperial March (L.O.D. Rage Mix). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Jourgensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Gauthier!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gauthier dives in and scores a takedown into Jourgensen's guard.
Gauthier pushing down on Jourgensen's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Gauthier is taking a breather. Jourgensen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gauthier wants to free his trapped foot but Jourgensen is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Jourgensen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gauthier.
Jourgensen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gauthier.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gauthier content to control rather than advance.
Gauthier uses his free foot to push down on Jourgensen's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jourgensen.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jourgensen blocking the ground and pound.
Gauthier thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Gauthier controlling the pace for now.
It looks like Gauthier might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Gauthier has hold of Jourgensen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jourgensen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jourgensen is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gauthier throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Jourgensen because Gauthier loaded up on that one.

Gauthier has hold of Jourgensen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jourgensen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Poor strikes thrown by Gauthier there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jourgensen is trying to stand up.

Gauthier looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Gauthier controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Gauthier dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jourgensen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gauthier swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gauthier throws out a counter right but Jourgensen avoids it with no problem.
Jourgensen is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Jourgensen shuts the power down on Gauthier. Lights out, game over! Jourgensen is your winner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Al Jourgensen!
After the fight, Al Jourgensen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
