Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eddy Dennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Oleg Vlasov!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vlasov paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Vlasov throws a head kick but Dennis moves out of range.
Dennis tries to sprawl but Vlasov drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dennis is trying to escape back to his feet but Vlasov uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Vlasov moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Dennis is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sloppy strikes there by Vlasov.
Vlasov wants to control but Dennis is keeping him busy.
Vlasov misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vlasov throws an elbow but Dennis slips to the side and avoids it well.
Vlasov tries for a kimura but Dennis is defending well.
The ground and pound from Vlasov seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Vlasov decides to stand back up.
Vlasov takes the fight into the clinch.
Vlasov tries to circle away but Dennis has him pinned against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Dennis tries to score a body lock takedown but Vlasov shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Vlasov throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Dennis is trying to break free.
Dennis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oooooh!!! Vlasov has knocked Dennis down with a huge combo! Vlasov steps away and waves a wobbly Dennis back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Eddy Dennis has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vlasov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dennis to the ground. Vlasov is now in Dennis's guard.
Dennis is rocked!
Vlasov landing with the ground and pound.
Oh Dennis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Vlasov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Vlasov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Vlasov arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Dennis's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Oleg Vlasov!
Oleg Vlasov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
