Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Idris Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Somchai Paowsong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Somchai Paowsong!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paowsong looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Paowsong moves out of range of the leg kick from Maddox.
Maddox connects with a body shot.
No joy there for Paowsong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Maddox feinted there with a counter leg kick.
A low kick from Maddox is predictable there
and Paowsong counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Maddox throws a low kick but it's checked well by Paowsong.
Maddox throws a shot to the body.
Maddox has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Maddox keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Paowsong.
Paowsong throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Maddox on the side of the head.
Maddox throws a solid leg kick but Paowsong takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Maddox.
Paowsong avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Paowsong avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Paowsong checks the leg kick.
Maddox fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Paowsong is out of range.
It seemed like Paowsong was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Paowsong blocks a leg kick.
Maddox lands with a shot to the body.
Nice jab there from Maddox.
Paowsong throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maddox.
Paowsong punishes Maddox's body with a nice straight punch.
Maddox takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Paowsong ducks under a wild hook from Maddox.
Idris Maddox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some bone on bone action there as Paowsong checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Maddox tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Paowsong is able to avoid easily.
Maddox uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Paowsong.
Maddox thumps Paowsong with a low kick.
Maddox throws a leg kick
and Paowsong counters with a lead uppercut that lands right on the button! Maddox goes down! Will Maddox beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's up! No problem. Let's get back to the action!
Maddox is rocked!
It looks like Idris Maddox has been cut.

Paowsong throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Oh Maddox is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Maddox misses the body punch
and Paowsong counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

After winning the bout, Somchai Paowsong thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
