The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hodge scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Nice sprawl there from Hitta as Hodge shoots in.
Hitta tries to clinch but Hodge is having none of it.
Hodge stuffs the takedown attempt from Hitta. Hitta gets slowly back to his feet.
Hodge attempts a counter takedown but Hitta avoids it well and moves away.
A low kick from Hitta is predictable there

and Hodge counters with a single leg into guard. Hitta didn't expect that.

Hitta has his feet on Hodge's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hodge shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hitta sprawls well. Hitta wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hodge gets slowly back to his feet.
Hitta unleashes a big counter combination but Hodge bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Hodge shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hitta is trying to defend but Hodge finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hitta wants to control but Hodge is keeping busy.

Hodge thows a huge punch but Hitta dodges it nicely.

Hodge seems to be working for a kimura but Hitta defends the submission attempt.

Hodge looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hitta with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hitta wants to get back to his feet but Hodge is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hodge scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Hodge postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hodge trying to control but Hitta is working from the bottom.
Hitta can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hodge controls the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hodge darts in looking for a takedown but Hitta gets double underhooks and turns Hodge into the cage.
Hitta changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mason Hodge. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hodge will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hodge shoots in for a double leg but Hitta sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hitta tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hodge manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hitta displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hodge.

That was a close round but I would say that Mason Hodge will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hitta throws a fast counter high kick but Hodge manages to duck under it in time.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hitta smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Hodge closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hitta pushes Hodge off but Hodge dives into side control.
Hodge is working Hitta over with some ground and pound from side control.
Hodge has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hodge looks up at the clock and then as Hitta takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hodge smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Hodge has an Americana. Hitta didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Hodge is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Hodge hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
