Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Elroy Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eric Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elroy Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Jackson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kennedy's guard.
Kennedy wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kennedy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kennedy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Kennedy tries to stand but Jackson is controlling from the bottom.

Jackson has an active guard here but Kennedy has managed to pass into half guard.
Kennedy controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson tries to roll over but Kennedy keeps him under control.

Kennedy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kennedy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kennedy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kennedy.
Jackson is looking for a sweep. Kennedy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kennedy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kennedy with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
It looks like Kennedy is going to stand back up.

Jackson is trying to control but Kennedy passes into side control!

Kennedy stands up.

Kennedy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jackson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jackson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kennedy is proving hard to escape from.

Kennedy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.


Jackson is working an open guard so Kennedy takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kennedy gets tackled into the cage by Jackson. Jackson maintains the clinch.
Kennedy fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Jackson has hold of one of Kennedy's legs. Kennedy is fighting the takedown attempt but Jackson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Kennedy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kennedy is stalling in the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elroy Kennedy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jackson thows a leg kick but Kennedy checks it

and Kennedy counters with a single leg into guard. Jackson didn't expect that.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kennedy manages to pass to side control.

Kennedy lands with a punch from half guard.

Kennedy decides to stand and escape the position.

Jackson looking to score a takedown here. Kennedy is defending well but Jackson drives through and ends up in Kennedy's guard.

Kennedy kicks Jackson off and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kennedy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around?
Kennedy tries to strike but it doesn't land.

Kennedy misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Kennedy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Kennedy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kennedy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.


Kennedy stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Jackson takes the fight into the clinch.
Kennedy's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Jackson blocks an elbow strike.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kennedy as Jackson tries to tie him up.
Kennedy misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jackson.

Kennedy scores with a shot to the side of Jackson's head.

Jackson pulls guard successfully.
Jackson is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kennedy dives into side control.

Kennedy stands up.

Kennedy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jackson!
Jackson bucks up and tries to throw Kennedy off but instead Kennedy has got his back!

Kennedy controlling the position well here. Jackson rolled but Kennedy kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Jackson is trying to stand back up.
Kennedy controlling well, preventing Jackson from escaping the position.
I would not like to be Jackson right now.
Jackson is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elroy Kennedy dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Jackson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kennedy throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Kennedy lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Jackson is looking to stand back up but Kennedy counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jackson.

Kennedy stands up out of the half guard.

Jackson darts in and clinches Kennedy up against the cage.

Jackson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Kennedy kicks Jackson off and gets to his feet.

Jackson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kennedy throws a big counter combination but Jackson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Jackson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kennedy lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Jackson.
Jackson can't break the clinch.
Kennedy works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Jackson is trying to trip Kennedy. He has hold of a leg but Kennedy is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jackson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kennedy uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Jackson drives through with a takedown into Kennedy's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Kennedy has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jackson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stalling in the clinch from Kennedy.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Kennedy stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
The referee calls for Kennedy to work.
Kennedy seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Jackson decides to pull guard.

Kennedy stands and steps away. Jackson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kennedy is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kennedy has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Jackson is on him like a limpet, forcing Kennedy back against the cage.
Kennedy just leaning against Jackson, taking a breather.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jackson.
Jackson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Jackson successfully pulls guard.

Kennedy gets to his feet - Jackson follows without any prompting.

Kennedy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jackson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kennedy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Kennedy's legs - danger averted.
Kennedy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Kennedy decides to stand up.
Elroy Kennedy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jackson misses with a looping right.
Kennedy swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Eric Jackson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Elroy Kennedy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jackson forces Kennedy back against the cage and clinches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Elroy Kennedy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kennedy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
