Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jefferson Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mason Roth!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warren misses with a wild combination.
Roth connects with a single shot there.
Warren wants to clinch.

Roth closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Warren quickly recovers to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roth sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Roth tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Roth stalling away here and it's allowed Warren to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Roth stays in close to Warren's body and controls the position.

Warren working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roth manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Roth is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Warren wants to sweep here but Roth controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Roth feints and as Warren raises his hands in defense, Roth changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Roth postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Warren is on top in guard.

Roth working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Warren has passed into half guard!

Roth has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Warren is on him like a limpet, forcing Roth back against the cage.
Warren is trying to force a seperation but Roth has the dominant position.

Warren breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Roth tries for a takedown but Warren sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Warren swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
No luck for Roth with that takedown attempt.

Roth fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Warren, pushing him back against the cage.
Warren has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Roth effectively controlling the action here.
Roth is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jefferson Warren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mason Roth.

Roth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Warren tries to avoid it but Roth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Warren to the ground. Warren escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Warren tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Roth manages to circle out of the way.

Roth dives in for a single leg takedown but Warren sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Roth throws a half hearted mid kick.
Warren tries to counter by clinching up but Roth breaks away and moves out of range.
Jefferson Warren is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Warren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Roth swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Roth fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Warren manages to avoid it.

A frustrated look appears on Warren's face as he tries to break the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Roth lands a right hand that snaps the head of Warren backwards.
Roth tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Warren smiles and moves away.
Roth feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Warrens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Warren tries to counter by clinching up but Roth breaks away and moves out of range.

Roth has managed to clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Roth as Warren tries to tie him up.
Roth lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Warren gets underhooks to prevent Roth's takedown attempt.
Roth jumps guard but Warren turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Warren is pressed up against the cage. Roth has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Warren down to the mat. Warren avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Roth goes for a double leg but Warren avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Warren continues to drive forward.
As Roth tries to get set, Warren tries to push him back and clinch up but Roth manages to avoid the attempt.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jefferson Warren.
I think Roth has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
