PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Morgan Clark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clark has chosen God Of Thunder as his entrance music. The key to victory for Ivan Emelianenko has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Morgan Clark!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clark ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Emelianenko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Clark.
Emelianenko fails to land the takedown.
Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Emelianenko shoots in looking for a takedown but Clark manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Emelianenko's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Emelianenko sets himself, and Clark steps forward looking for the clinch! Emelianenko avoids it this time.

Emelianenko jumps guard but Clark turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Clark's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Clark's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Emelianenko was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Clark ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Emelianenko moves away.
Emelianenko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clark sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Emelianenko somewhat.

Horrible takedown attempt by Emelianenko or perhaps it was just good defense by Clark, which made it look bad.

Emelianenko wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Emelianenko moves out of range of the strikes.
Emelianenko defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Clark.
Emelianenko fails to land the takedown.
Clark swings away with a body shot that misses
and Emelianenko counters with a one-two to the body.
Emelianenko closes the distance and clinches up with Clark, looking for a takedown. Emelianenko pushes Clark against the cage but Clark circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Emelianenko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Clark sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Emelianenko somewhat.

Emelianenko goes for a double leg but Clark avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Clark continues to drive forward.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Clark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Emelianenko changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Clark swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Emelianenko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Clark will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Clark keeps moving.

Clark throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Clark wants to sweep here but Emelianenko controlling him for the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Emelianenko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Clark looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Clark is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Emelianenko's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Emelianenko's back!

Emelianenko is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clark is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Morgan Clark showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Emelianenko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Emelianenko closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clark to the mat! Clark manages to get full guard.
Clark is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Clark bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Emelianenko's guard.

Emelianenko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Clark just misses with a elbow thrown towards Emelianenko's brow.
Emelianenko jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Clark walks away with a smile on his face. Emelianenko gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Emelianenko is trying to force a seperation but Clark has the dominant position.
Clark creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Ivan Emelianenko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Clark lands with a right to the head.

Morgan Clark comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Clark has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Morgan Clark tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
