PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shane Francis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murphy Aindreas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Francis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Murphy Aindreas!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Francis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Aindreas throws a jab when Francis was well out of range.
The fighters circling - Aindreas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Francis slips a jab and a cross from Aindreas.
Aindreas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Francis gets the takedown into side control.

Francis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Francis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Francis tries for a kimura but Aindreas is defending well.
Aindreas wants to control but Francis postures up.
Aindreas is not content to let Francis control the position.
Aindreas is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Francis is controlling him well.

Francis swings around for an armbar but Aindreas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Francis's guard.
Aindreas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Francis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Aindreas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Francis wants to sweep here but Aindreas controlling him for the moment.
Aindreas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aindreas tries to stand but Francis is controlling from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Aindreas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Francis manages to avoid it.
Francis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aindreas swivels and escapes.
Aindreas throws a combination. Francis tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Aindreas misses with a looping right.
Aindreas scores with a nice head shot.
Aindreas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Francis.
Aindreas misses with a double jab.
Aindreas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Francis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Francis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Aindreas tries to bum rush Francis with a series of wild strikes but Francis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Aindreas misses with the combination.
Francis avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Aindreas throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murphy Aindreas dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Aindreas cracks Francis with a good jab.
Aindreas lands a jab.
Aindreas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Aindreas throws a shot from downtown. Francis moves away and avoids it.
The fighters circling - Aindreas throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Aindreas connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Francis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aindreas tries to avoid it but Francis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aindreas to the ground. Aindreas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Francis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aindreas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Aindreas is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Francis's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Aindreas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Francis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Francis passes to full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Francis looking to secure an arm triangle but Aindreas defends it well.

Francis is working for a guillotine from mount but Aindreas frees his head quite easily.

Aindreas is desperately trying to improve his position but Francis has a good base and remains in mount.
Aindreas is trying to stand up.
Aindreas is wriggling around trying to escape.
Francis wants to control the pace but Aindreas is squirming around nicely.
Francis fails to advance to Aindreas's back.
Aindreas squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Aindreas working to try and regain half guard.
Aindreas is trying to stand up.
Francis manages to capitalize on a mistake by Aindreas to take his back!

Francis is persistently looking for the submission but Aindreas is defending it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aindreas is trying to stand back up.

Francis patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Aindreas controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Aindreas looking very determined here, making life difficult for Francis.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aindreas holding both Francis 's hands and preventing any damage.
Aindreas turns into Francis and is now in his guard.
Aindreas won't allow Francis to sweep him here.

Aindreas stands up from Francis's guard - Aindreas perhaps looking for a knockout.
Aindreas connects with a body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Murphy Aindreas will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Aindreas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Francis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Murphy Aindreas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aindreas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Francis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Aindreas misses with a jab, cross combination.

Aindreas throws a nice looking combination but Francis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Aindreas throws a series of punches but Francis avoids them all with ease.
Aindreas looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Aindreas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

A left and a right from Aindreas both land. Nice combination.
Francis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Aindreas.
Aindreas lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Francis backs up against the cage.
Aindreas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Aindreas throws a right and a left that both miss.
Murphy Aindreas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Shane Francis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Francis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Aindreas connects with a crisp jab.
Aindreas throws a right and a left that Francis avoids nicely.

Francis feints and as Aindreas raises his hands in defense, Francis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Murphy Aindreas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Aindreas winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
