Ariana Grande - Let Me Think Bout You as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Amodei as he connects with a hook.
Penn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Amodei.
Amodei throws a hook but Penn blocks it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Penn! But no joy.
Amodei closes the distance looking to clinch
and Penn counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Amodei takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Amodei misses with a hook
and Penn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Amodei throws a body punch but Penn moves out of range.

and Amodei counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Penn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Giuseppe Amodei has been cut.
Penn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Amodei was well out of range. Poor timing from Penn.
