Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yerba Mate Yerba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Jones tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Yerba tries to land a knee to the head but Jones blocks with his arms.
Yerba fails to pull guard.
Yerba wants to get back to striking at distance but Jones won't allow it.
Jones is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Yerba is defending well.

Jones wants the takedown. Yerba is fighting it off but Jones persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Yerba's guard against the cage.
Yerba will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones looks up at the clock and then as Yerba takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Yerba avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jones .
Yerba is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Yerba is trying to escape the position but Jones is controlling the position.
Yerba tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Jones gets to mount! Yerba was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yerba Mate Yerba is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Jones counters with a three punch combo that has Yerba backing up. Yerba nods at Jones to acknowledge the strikes.
Yerba Mate Yerba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yerba throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Yerba.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones has Yerba pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Yerba manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Yerba shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Yerba keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Yerba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones .

Jones dives in and grabs Yerba's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yerba pushes down on Jones 's head and hops out.

Jones connects with a good right hand that stumbles Yerba. Yerba circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Mike Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown attempt by Yerba or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones , which made it look bad.

Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
