The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruiz wants to clinch.

Ruiz throws a front kick aimed at Trudeau's knee but Trudeau avoids it well.
Trudeau throws a big counter combination but Ruiz scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

It looks like Godofredo Ruiz has been cut.
Trudeau tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruiz was well out of range. Poor timing from Trudeau.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horrible takedown attempt by Ruiz or perhaps it was just good defense by Trudeau, which made it look bad.

Trudeau swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Trudeau uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ruiz takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That has opened up Godofredo Ruiz's cut even more.
Trudeau is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Ruiz flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Ruiz is out cold! Trudeau holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
