Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kell Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stalagmus Virgo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stalagmus Virgo!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Virgo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Virgo is defended easily by Jones.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Virgo, which made it look bad.
Nice sprawl there from Virgo as Jones shoots in.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Virgo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Virgo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Virgo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.

Jones manages to pull guard.
Virgo trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jones uses his free foot to push down on Virgo's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Virgo.
Virgo holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jones tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Jones throws some wild stikes that Virgo manages to avoid easily.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jones misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Virgo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Virgo tries to hold on but Jones postures up.

Virgo is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea.

Jones drags the fight down to the ground.
Virgo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jones is proving hard to escape from.
Jones throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Kell Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones sneaks out the side door and pushes Virgo away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones has had enough of the clinch but Virgo keeps him there for the moment.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
