PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marc Serioux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Serioux might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Black Sabbath - Iron Man. King Bass will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bass throws a series of punches but Serioux moves out of range.

Bass closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Serioux is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bass's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bass's back!
Bass covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bass controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Serioux has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Serioux is persistently looking for the submission but Bass is defending it well.
A lull in the action here.
Bass is trying to get back to his feet but Serioux has full control of the position and if anything, Bass has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Serioux tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Serioux has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bass throws a few strikes from the bottom but Serioux takes advantage and mounts!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Serioux with shots to the head and body - Bass looks very uncomfortable down there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Serioux tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bass swivels and escapes.

Serioux utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bass wants to pass the guard but Serioux is keeping the position.

Bass is pushing down on Serioux's leg trying to pass to half guard. Serioux is fighting to maintain full guard but Bass has managed to sneak the leg through.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bass pushes Serioux off looking to stand but Serioux dives back in and keeps control.
Serioux will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Serioux jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bass walks away with a smile on his face. Serioux gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Bass gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Bass wants to hold on but Serioux pushes him away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Serioux moves into full mount! Bass won't be happy about that!
Bass is trying to stand but he's just given Serioux his back.
Bass trying to get back to his feet but Serioux is in full control for now.
Serioux is trying to stick to Bass's back but Bass is turning into Serioux. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Serioux's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bass.
Bass won't allow Serioux to sweep him here.
Marc Serioux has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Serioux had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bass is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Serioux Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bass's back instead.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to King Bass.
I've got Bass winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
