Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edson Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasquez comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Battery kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribeiro throws a hook but Vasquez blocks it.
Vasquez's coach down at Ferocious Beast was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Vasquez's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Vasquez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ribeiro was well out of range. Poor timing from Vasquez.
Ribeiro misses with an uppercut.
Ribeiro misses with a wild body shot.
Ribeiro definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ribeiro swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Vasquez counters with a left to the body.
Vasquez looks to throw the jab but Ribeiro is out of range.
Ribeiro tries to counter by clinching up but Vasquez breaks away and moves out of range.
Edson Ribeiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Despite the aggression on Vasquez's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Ribeiro tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vasquez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Vasquez displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ribeiro throws out the jab.

Vasquez unleashes a big counter combination but Ribeiro bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Ribeiro has Vasquez up against the cage in a clinch.

Vasquez wants to get up but he can't break Ribeiro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Vasquez is looking to stand up but Ribeiro won't let him.

Vasquez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Ribeiro is looking to cinch up a triangle. Vasquez throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ribeiro's body to avoid the submission. Ribeiro has instead reached around Vasquez's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ribeiro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
