Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Nice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Masras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Masras is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimbo Nice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Masras!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masras lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Masras scores with a one two! Nice had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Nice tries to clinch there but Masras circles away.
Nice throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nice closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nice lands in his opponent's guard.

Masras controls Nice momentarily but Nice frees himself.
Nice in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Nice closes the distance and clinches up with Masras, looking for a takedown. Nice pushes Masras against the cage but Masras circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Masras shapes to counter with a head kick.

Masras has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nice is working away from the top position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Masras can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's time! Nice's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Horrible takedown attempt by Nice or perhaps it was just good defense by Masras, which made it look bad.

Nice shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Masras's guard.
Nice has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Masras really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nice. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fight stays on the outside here - Nice looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nice fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice dives in and grabs Masras's left leg, looking for a takedown. Masras pushes down on Nice's head and hops out.
Nice tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Masras manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Nice shoots in and bounces Masras off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nice looking to sit in guard and control but Masras gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nice is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Masras is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but James Masras will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Masras stuffs the takedown attempt from Nice. Nice gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Nice drops down looking for a counter takedown but Masras sprawls and moves away.
Nice shoots in looking for a takedown but Masras manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nice's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Masras feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nice is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

James Masras is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Nice is looking to regain half guard here but Masras keeps moving and retains side control.

I've got Masras winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
