Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Reginald Velvet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Smash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reginald Velvet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Smash!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smash goes for a double leg but Velvet avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Velvet continues to drive forward.
Velvet throws a right hand that Smash ducks under and follows up with a left that Smash also avoids with ease.

Smash fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Velvet sprawls well initially but Smash persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Smash seems to be working for a kimura but Velvet defends the submission attempt.
Smash throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Smash trying to control from half guard but Velvet is working away.
Velvet really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smash might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Velvet haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Still in half guard, Smash seems content to control.
Velvet makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Velvet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velvet isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Smash stacks Velvet on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Smash!

Smash thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Velvet sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Velvet is looking to get back to full guard here but Smash has managed to pass to side control instead.
Velvet is looking to regain half guard here but Smash keeps moving and retains side control.
Smash throws an elbow but Velvet slips to the side and avoids it well.
Velvet tries to buck Smash off but Smash is having none of it.
Velvet is working hard here to advance position.
Smash takes a little break here. Velvet wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Smash trying to control the position but Velvet is working away.
The strikes coming from Smash are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Velvet is trying to work for a sweep but Smash has mounted him!
Velvet on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Velvet tries to get out of the position.
Velvet is squirming around, avoiding Smash's attempts to control the action.
Smash has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Velvet can't escape the position.

Smash looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Smash looking to finish with strikes here!

Velvet is desperately trying to improve his position but Smash has a good base and remains in mount.

Smash looking to control but Velvet is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Smash thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Smash tries to control but Velvet wriggling away.

Velvet is trying desperately to improve position.
Smash fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smash looking to control but Velvet is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Velvet can't escape the position.
Smash controlling the pace for now.
Smash wants to control the pace but Velvet is squirming around nicely.

Smash is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Velvet avoids the head kick by Smash.
Velvet stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Velvet wants it to stay on the feet.

Smash has closed the distance and engaged Velvet in a clinch.
Velvet is trying to push Smash away but Smash has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Velvet is looking to break free of the clinch but Smash has double underhooks.
Velvet can't break the clinch.
Nice body punch from Smash.
Velvet is breathing heavily.
Velvet doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Smash pulls guard successfully.
Velvet wants to stand and escape but instead Smash has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Velvet is working an open guard so Smash takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Smash showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Velvet.
Smash tries to score a power double leg takedown but Velvet sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smash somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Smash dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Velvet fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smash slips a jab and a cross from Velvet.

Velvet lands a left and a right that send Smash crashing to the mat, dazed. Velvet thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Smash is rocked!


It looks like Daniel Smash has been cut.
Smash shoots in for a takedown but Velvet shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Smash is still on wobbly legs! Can Velvet finish him?
Velvet throws a left and a right that both miss

and Smash counters by clinching up.
Smash seems to have recovered his senses.

Smash decides to pull guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smash is on top in guard.

Smash is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Velvet tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Smash is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smash trying to control the position from guard on top but Velvet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Smash gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Smash dodges the punch combination from Velvet.
Velvet sets himself, and Smash steps forward looking for the clinch! Velvet avoids it this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velvet leaves Smash with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Velvet throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Velvet tries to keep at a distance but Smash has taken the fight into the clinch.
Smash has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Smash successfully pulls guard.
Smash throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Smash manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Velvet manages to get himself to full guard.

Smash sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Velvet keeping moving, preventing Smash from controlling successfully.
Smash pushing down on Velvet's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Smash is nestled in close to Velvet, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smash in particular looking to stall.
Smash passes the guard and advances to mount!

Smash looking to secure an arm triangle but Velvet defends it well.

Smash working for a submission but Velvet is keeping him at bay.

Smash looking to control and managing it successfully.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Let's hope that Smash has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Smash has control of Velvet's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Velvet regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Smash looking for a guillotine from mount but Velvet is having none of it.
Velvet is looking to get to half guard.
Smash cracks Velvet with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Velvet is bucking up trying to escape but Smash cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The referee warns Velvet that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Smash tries to control but Velvet wriggling away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Smash looking for a guillotine from mount but Velvet is having none of it.
Smash scoring with strikes but Velvet is staying in there.
Smash controlling the position easily from mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smash controlling his opponent.
Smash trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Smash showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smash drops his hands for a split second and Velvet immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Smash face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Velvet follows up with a right hand that knocks Smash into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
