PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between German Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Robin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robin has chosen Voice Of The Voicless - RATM as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, German Hood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rob Robin!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Robin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Robin tries to stand but Hood controls the position and pulls Robin into his guard.
Robin wants to control from the top but Hood keeps moving.
Hood will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hood looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Robin puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hood is refusing to be controlled, as Robin sits in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hood is looking to get back to is feet but Robin passes into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hood is trying to improve his position.
Robin trying to control the position but Hood is working away.
Hood is letting Robin control him for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Robin tries to stand but Hood is controlling his head.

Hood can't do much from the bottom here.

Hood takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Robin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hood to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robin won't allow Hood to sweep him here.
Robin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Robin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Robin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Robin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hood is on top in guard.

Hood won't allow Robin to sweep him here.

Hood postures up in Robin's guard and throws a big left but Robin blocks it.
Hood throws an elbow that misses. Robin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hood's guard. Nice move by Robin!

Robin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Hood escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Robin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hood tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Robin trying to control the position from guard on top but Hood is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Robin dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Robin tries to close the distance and clinch but Hood swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Robin shoots in and bounces Hood off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hood keeping moving, preventing Robin from controlling successfully.
Robin is stalling in the full guard.
Hood is trying to hold Robin in close to prevent damage but Robin has managed to pass into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Robin wants to take a breather but Hood is having none of it.
Hood tries to get to full guard but Robin has control of the leg.
Hood is in trouble now - Robin has advanced to mount!

Hood is rocked!
Robin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hood has left one of his arms exposed and Robin doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Hood screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rob Robin!
After the fight, Rob Robin was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
