PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peedi Balerado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and VJ Mithani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mithani is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Forever - Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Balerado drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mithani wants to improve his position but Balerado is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Balerado shoots for a double leg takedown but Mithani sprawls well. He's pushed Balerado's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mithani closes this distance looking for a takedown but Balerado circles away.

and Mithani decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Balerado's guard.

Mithani stays in close to Balerado's body and controls the position.

Balerado has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mithani can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mithani lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

and Mithani counters with an inside leg kick.
Mithani doesn't manage to clinch there - Balerado circles away.

Mithani takes the fight into the clinch.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Balerado misses with a takedown attempt - Mithani sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mithani moves nicely into side control.
Mithani looks up at the clock and then as Balerado takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mithani smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Balerado is looking for a sweep.
Balerado prevents Mithani from improving position.
Mithani wants to control but Balerado is keeping him busy.

Mithani is trying to get an arm triangle but Balerado is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Balerado tries to improve position but can't.
Mithani creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

You can see the frustration on Balerado's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mithani wants to control but Balerado is keeping him busy.

Mithani connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Balerado some visible discomfort.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mithani has closed the distance and engaged Balerado in a clinch.

Balerado looks for a takedown but Mithani sprawls well.

Mithani looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Balerado is fending him off so far but Mithani persists. Nope, Balerado circles away and we're back to standing.

Balerado shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mithani but Mithani pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mithani has taken the fight to the clinch.

Balerado looking to sit in guard and control but Mithani gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mithani thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Balerado being controlled here, momentarily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mithani stops Balerado from standing up.

Mithani stands up from Balerado's guard - Mithani perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mithani closes the distance but Balerado moves to the side

and Balerado counters with a shoot takedown. Mithani fights it but they end up in guard.

Mithani is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Balerado slips nicely into half guard.
Mithani is in trouble now - Balerado has advanced to mount!
Balerado can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mithani is looking to escape.
Mithani wants to control but Balerado is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Balerado tries to control but Mithani wriggling away.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peedi Balerado.
I think Balerado has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
