PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carol Pratt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sito Sukiki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sito Sukiki has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Carol Pratt's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carol Pratt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sito Sukiki!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sukiki decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Pratt kicks off Sukiki and gets to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sukiki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sukiki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sukiki swings around for an armbar but Pratt sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sukiki's guard.
Pratt is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sukiki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pratt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pratt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pratt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sukiki is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pratt defends well.
Pratt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sukiki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pratt controls the pace.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pratt content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Sukiki looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pratt puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Still in half guard, Pratt seems content to control.

Pratt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pratt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sukiki on the ground.

Pratt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Sukiki is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pratt pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pratt is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Sukiki feints and as Pratt raises his hands in defense, Sukiki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Carol Pratt will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Pratt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sukiki to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sukiki drops back, looking for a kneebar! Pratt looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Pratt looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Pratt!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Pratt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sukiki for as long as he can get away with.
Sukiki tries to buck Pratt off but Pratt is having none of it.
Sukiki seems a little lost for a moment, as Pratt dominates the positioning.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Pratt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sukiki can do to turn this around?
Sukiki tries to buck Pratt off but Pratt is having none of it.

Sukiki is trying to improve his position.
Pratt cracks Sukiki with a big right hand but Sukiki just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Pratt lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Sukiki tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sukiki is trying to work for a sweep but Pratt has mounted him!

Sukiki regains half guard.

Sukiki is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pratt scores with a couple of nice shots.

Pratt trying to control the pace.
Carol Pratt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pratt is nestled in close to Sukiki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Pratt is controlling the pace.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carol Pratt dominated that second round.
That's time! Pratt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Sukiki fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pratt to the ground. Sukiki is now in Pratt's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pratt wants to reverse the position here. Sukiki has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Pratt is forced to tap! Pratt looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Sito Sukiki!
