Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kory Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akkan Kubilay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akkan Kubilay!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Cross closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kubilay drags the fight down to the ground.
Cross stands up over Kubilay, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Cross working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kubilay lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cross is trying to control the position but Kubilay postures up.
Kubilay sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cross's guard.
Cross is trying to stand.
Kubilay is keen to just control but Cross is a slippery customer.
Cross is holding on to half guard well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cross is looking to control Kubilay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cross avoid being mounted?
Kubilay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cross with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cross is looking to improve his position.

Cross kicks Kubilay off and gets back to his feet.

Kubilay looking to score a takedown here. Cross is defending well but Kubilay drives through and ends up in Cross's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kubilay with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kubilay wants to control from the top but Cross keeps moving.
Kubilay scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Cross is rocked!
Kubilay slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Oh Cross is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kubilay has hold of Cross's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Cross tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kubilay cranks the arm and Cross screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Cross, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
