Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pari Jakh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Mazzagati!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mazzagati cracks Jakh with an open hand slap.


It looks like Pari Jakh has been cut.
Mazzagati lands with a nice body punch.

Jakh gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jakh prevents Mazzagati from breaking the clinch.

Mazzagati breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mazzagati is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jakh's half guard.
Mazzagati has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jakh is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jakh tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mazzagati stands up and beckons Jakh to join him on the feet.

Jakh fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mazzagati, pushing him back against the cage.

Jakh scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Mazzagati closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Jakh ducks right into an uppercut from Mazzagati.
Jakh avoids the head kick by Mazzagati.
Jakh went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Mazzagati misses with an attempted mid kick.

Jakh clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jakh closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Mazzagati clobbers Jakh with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mazzagati scores with a shot to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jakh enables Mazzagati to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jakh manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mazzagati must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jakh is breathing heavily.

Mazzagati gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nice cross by Mazzagati.
Jakh takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mazzagati shoots for a takedown but Jakh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mazzagati fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Mazzagati has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jakh wants to break free but Mazzagati has control.

Mazzagati breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mazzagati leaves Jakh with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It seemed like Mazzagati was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Jakh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mazzagati as he avoids it easily.
A little jabbing left from Mazzagati on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Jakh needs to keep his hands up - Mazzagati had a free shot at his head there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Pari Jakh's cut.
That's time! Jakh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Mazzagati rushes Jakh and presses him up against the cage.
Jakh has Mazzagati pressed against the cage, preventing Mazzagati from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mazzagati wants to break free but Jakh has control.

Mazzagati breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mazzagati cracks Jakh with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mazzagati throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Mazzagati shoots for a takedown but Jakh saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jakh avoids the body shot from Mazzagati.
Jakh throws a big counter combination but Mazzagati scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Jakh throws a one two combo.
Mazzagati connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jakh momentarily.
Pari Jakh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mazzagati wants to slow Jakh down by chopping away at his legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jakh avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Jakh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mazzagati but Mazzagati pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mazzagati is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jakh.
Mazzagati dives in for a single leg takedown but Jakh sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mazzagati is trying to force a seperation but Jakh has the dominant position.

Mazzagati works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Jakh takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mazzagati bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mazzagati lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jakh circles away quickly and effectively.
Mazzagati falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jakh counters with a left to the body.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jakh is on top in guard.


Jakh drops back looking for a leg! Mazzagati is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mazzagati manages to kick Jakh off! Jakh jumps back into Mazzagati's guard.
Mazzagati pulls Jakh in close to prevent any damage.
Steve Mazzagati has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mazzagati keeping moving, preventing Jakh from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jakh stops Mazzagati from standing up.
Jakh trying to control the position from guard on top but Mazzagati is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jakh wants to pass the guard but Mazzagati is keeping the position.

Jakh looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Mazzagati shoots for a double leg takedown but Jakh sprawls well. He's pushed Mazzagati's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mazzagati lands a jab-cross combination.
Jakh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mazzagati's waist but Mazzagati gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jakh off to one side.

Jakh is trying to pull guard but Mazzagati turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jakh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Jakh attempts a counter takedown but Mazzagati avoids it well and moves away.

No joy there for Mazzagati, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jakh's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mazzagati under the eye.
Mazzagati cracks Jakh with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Mazzagati lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jakh thuds his shin into the meat of Mazzagati's side.
Jakh lunges at Mazzagati with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mazzagati's hand.
Mazzagati lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jakh circles away quickly and effectively.
Mazzagati misses with a double jab.
Jakh misses with a series of wild punches.
Mazzagati is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jakh.
Well,Jakh is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?
Mazzagati uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Mazzagati closes the distance and clinches up with Jakh, looking for a takedown. Mazzagati pushes Jakh against the cage but Jakh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jakh is looking for a counter combo.
Jakh looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Jakh shoots in looking for a takedown. Mazzagati tries to sprawl out of it but Jakh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mazzagati manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jakh changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mazzagati fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mazzagati has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jakh dives in for a single leg takedown but Mazzagati sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mazzagati! But no joy.
Steve Mazzagati is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Mazzagati is pushing Jakh up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Pari Jakh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mazzagati blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Steve Mazzagati comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mazzagati has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
