PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ground Pound (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre St Georges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). St Georges comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I'm no superman (lazlo bane- scrubs theme) kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre St Georges!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

St Georges has managed to clinch.

St Georges breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pound looks for a takedown but St Georges sprawls well.

It looks like Ground Pound has been cut.
St Georges takes one to the chin there.
Pound fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

St Georges sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Pound to the ground! St Georges dives into full mount looking to finish!

Pound bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

No joy there for St Georges, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pound connects with a nice short shot to St Georges's temple.
Pound working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

St Georges has his foot on Pound's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pound works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Pound wants to free his trapped foot but St Georges is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

St Georges had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pound is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. St Georges Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pound's back instead.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I would just about give that final round to Pierre St Georges.
