PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deangelo Flagg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phoenix Templar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flagg comes to the cage accompanied by What Its Like. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Phoenix Templar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deangelo Flagg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Phoenix Templar!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flagg throws a leg kick
and Templar counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Flagg misses with a head kick.
Templar throws out a counter right but Flagg avoids it with no problem.
Flagg connects with an inside leg kick.
Flagg throws a head kick that misses.
Templar on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Flagg.
Deangelo Flagg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Templar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Despite the aggression on Templar's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Flagg feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Flagg is stalling in the full guard.
Templar has momentary wrist control but Flagg slips an elbow through the middle.
Flagg with a flurry of punches that miss.
Flagg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Templar looking for a guillotine here but Flagg defends easily.
Flagg content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Templar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Flagg defends it easily.
Flagg missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Flagg trying to control but Templar is working from the bottom.

Templar is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Flagg defends well.
Flagg trying to control the position from guard on top but Templar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Flagg wants to pass the guard but Templar is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Flagg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Templar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Flagg has managed to get both his arms back between Templar's legs - danger averted.
Flagg wants to pass the guard but Templar is keeping the position.

Flagg drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Flagg jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Flagg postures up and lands a big shot to Templar's brow.

Templar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Flagg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Flagg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Templar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Flagg content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Templar has locked up a guillotine! Templar's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Flagg is holding on here and Templar must be using up a lot of energy. Flagg has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Templar gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Phoenix Templar!
A very excited looking Phoenix Templar made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
