Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Cortez (ranked 2546 p4p, 377 weight class) and Phenoix Brown (ranked 4489 p4p, 588 weight class). Brown has chosen Some Body Gonna Get It as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rafael Cortez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Phenoix Brown's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rafael Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phenoix Brown!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws the kick towards the body but Cortez avoids it.
Brown throws a right hand that misses
and Cortez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cortez lands a nice shot to the body.
Cortez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Brown looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Brown looks to clinch
and Cortez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cortez seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Brown tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cortez swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brown fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A nice combination there by Brown.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cortez lunges at Brown with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Brown's hand.

Brown is rocked!
Brown throws a low kick but Cortez avoids it.
Brown is still on wobbly legs! Can Cortez finish him?
Brown swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cortez counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Cortez rattles Brown with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Brown tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Cortez dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Brown stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Rafael Cortez!
After winning the bout, Rafael Cortez thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Phenoix Brown spoke after the fight, saying 'I may be down but I am not out. I wil comeback stronger and not lose that way again'.
