PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shi Fu Tu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zach Makovsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fu Tu comes to the cage accompanied by Klendathu drop. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 2, fighting out of London, Shi Fu Tu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Zach Makovsky!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fu Tu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fu Tu lands an overhand right.
Makovsky looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fu Tu is fending him off so far but Makovsky persists. Nope, Fu Tu circles away and we're back to standing.
Fu Tu takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Fu Tu looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Makovsky has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Fu Tu lands with a good body shot.
Makovsky misses with a looping left.
It looked like Fu Tu was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Fu Tu delivers a nice body kick.
Fu Tu connects with a right hand. Makovsky shakes it off.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fu Tu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Makovsky moves away.
Makovsky throws a right and a left that Fu Tu avoids nicely.
Fu Tu thuds his right hand into Makovsky's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Fu Tu misses with an uppercut. Makovsky saw that one coming.

Makovsky lands a front kick.

Makovsky shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fu Tu napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fu Tu is working hard here to advance position.
The strikes coming from Makovsky are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Makovsky in side control lands a decent elbow.
Fu Tu manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Makovsky is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fu Tu can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Makovsky trying to control the action but Fu Tu is working from the bottom.
Fu Tu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Makovsky in particular looking to stall.
Makovsky lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Fu Tu is looking to control Makovsky's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fu Tu avoid being mounted?
Makovsky wants to control but Fu Tu is keeping him busy.
Fu Tu wants to improve his position but Makovsky is controlling well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fu Tu moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shi Fu Tu will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Fu Tu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fu Tu wants it to stay on the feet.
Zach Makovsky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck for Makovsky with that takedown attempt.
Fu Tu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Makovsky manages to avoid it.
Makovsky moves out of range as Fu Tu strikes.
Fu Tu throws a hook to the side of Makovsky's head but Makovsky sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Fu Tu misses with a hook.

Makovsky throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Fu Tu counters with an outside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fu Tu avoids the body shot from Makovsky.
Fu Tu takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Fu Tu tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Shi Fu Tu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zach Makovsky.

Makovsky rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fu Tu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The crowd cheers as Fu Tu lands an impressive looking overhand right. Makovsky doesn't seem phased though.
Makovsky ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Fu Tu throws a leg kick but Makovsky moved away.
Fu Tu lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Shi Fu Tu is winning the standup battle so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fu Tu throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fu Tu throws a hook but Makovsky avoids it easily.
Makovsky with the counter takedown but Fu Tu avoids it easily.
Fu Tu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Makovsky can do to turn this around?

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fu Tu is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Makovsky is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Fu Tu rather than just go for the knockout.

Makovsky throws a nice inside leg kick.
Fu Tu feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Makovskys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Zach Makovsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Makovsky counters with a shoot takedown. Fu Tu fights it but they end up in guard.

Fu Tu uses the cage to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Makovsky shoots in looking for a takedown but Fu Tu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Makovsky's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Makovsky bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Fu Tu's head.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Makovsky checks a leg kick.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fu Tu works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fu Tu pulls Makovsky in close to prevent any damage.

Fu Tu tries for a kimura but Makovsky is defending well.

Fu Tu misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Makovsky is looking to reverse the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Fu Tu is really struggling to control Makovsky but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shi Fu Tu showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fu Tu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
