Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Annette Curtain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monroe's entrance music is Woke up this morning. A fine choice. Annette Curtain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Annette Curtain!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe cracks Curtain with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Monroe works over Curtain's head and body with a nice combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Curtain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Monroe scores with a shot to the body.
Curtain shoots in but Monroe avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Billy Monroe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monroe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Curtain.

Horrible takedown attempt by Curtain or perhaps it was just good defense by Monroe, which made it look bad.
Curtain takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Curtain takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Curtain goes for a double leg but Monroe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Monroe continues to drive forward.

enabling Monroe to counter with a crisp jab.

It looked like Monroe wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Monroe lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Monroe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Curtain can do to turn this around?

Curtain shoots in looking for a takedown but Monroe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Curtain's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Curtain shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Curtain was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Curtain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Monroe has escaped the position, nice work there.
Monroe regains half guard there - taking advantage of Curtain's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Monroe is not content to let Curtain control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Curtain is trying to work for a kimura but Monroe is defending well.
Monroe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Curtain is looking to stall here but Monroe recovers full guard.

Curtain drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Monroe dives on top into guard.


Curtain is looking for a triangle but Monroe pushes his legs off easily.
Curtain pulls Monroe in to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Monroe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Curtain is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Curtain throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Monroe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Monroe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Monroe moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Monroe lands with a cross.
Monroe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Curtain.
Monroe connects with a body shot that sends Curtain's belly button to the back.
Curtain shoots in and drives through. Monroe sprawls well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Curtain takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Curtain closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Monroe quickly recovers to half guard.

Monroe has one foot on Curtain's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billy Monroe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Monroe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A determined Billy Monroe didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
