Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zackary Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quick Joe!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gaines moves away.
Gaines throws a big counter combination but Joe scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Joe slaps away a takedown attempt from Gaines, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Joe misses with a wild body shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gaines.
Joe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gaines really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gaines slips a straight right by Joe.
Joe misses with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gaines enables Joe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gaines manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Joe wants to control from the top but Gaines keeps moving.
Joe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe advances to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gaines keeps working.
Gaines knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joe on the ground.
Joe has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Joe thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Joe punching from mount but Gaines doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Joe controlling the pace for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joe throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Gaines tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Joe controlling from the full mount.
Gaines holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Joe tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Gaines has left one of his arms exposed and Joe doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Gaines screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Quick Joe!
