The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Brew on his heels. He'll look to pass Brew's guard now, I'm sure.
Brew looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

Brew is pulling down on Smith's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith, at least for the moment.
Brew will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Smith chips away with some ground and pound.

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Smith lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Smith working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Brew is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
