PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sean Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adolf Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Khan's choice of entrance music: Monster. Sean Rice has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sean Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adolf Khan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rice gets a clinch.
Khan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rice prevents it.
Rice landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Rice misses with an elbow over the top.
Rice with an attempt at a knee that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan prevents a body shot from Rice.
Khan blocks the elbow strike.

Khan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rice tries for a takedown. No joy.
Khan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rice fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rice pushes Khan up against the cage in a clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Khan is working for takedown but Rice is calmly controlling the position for now.
Sean Rice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adolf Khan.

Rice with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Rice trying to keep a closed guard but Khan is proving a slippery customer.
Khan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Khan stops Rice from standing up.
Khan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Rice has his hands on Khan's head, controlling the position.
Khan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Khan passes Rice's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Let's hope that Khan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Rice closes the distance and clinches.
Rice stalling against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rice has Khan pressed against the cage, preventing Khan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Khan tries to work over Rice's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Khan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rice regains guard immediately.
Rice will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rice looking for a guillotine here but Khan defends easily.
Rice is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Khan can do to turn this around?
Khan is working Rice over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Khan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Rice flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Rice trying to control but Khan postures up.
Khan is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Khan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Rice wants to control but Khan is keeping busy.
Rice moves into full guard.

Khan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rice trying to keep a closed guard but Khan is proving a slippery customer.
Rice doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Rice is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rice can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Khan controls the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rice has Khan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Khan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

A close second round but Adolf Khan will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Rice's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Khan is trying to drag Rice to the mat but Rice just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Khan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rice gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sean Rice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adolf Khan.

Rice lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Khan backwards.

Rice tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Khan just stands there and leans against the cage.

Rice is pressed up against the cage. Khan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rice down to the mat. Rice avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Rice clinches up with Khan and pushes him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sean Rice showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rice has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
