Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Calderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Robin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robin has chosen Voice Of The Voicless - RATM as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodrigo Calderon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rob Robin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Topper Green and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Calderon counters with a good, hard body kick but Robin shrugs it off.
Robin looking to land some kicks to the body here.
A little feinted left hand from Calderon on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Calderon gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Robin breaks the clinch.

Robin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Calderon was covering up waiting for the punch and Robin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Calderon pushes Robin off and gets back to his feet.

Robin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Calderon is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Robin is controlling him well.

The ground and pound from Robin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Robin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Calderon has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Robin but great work by Calderon.

Robin takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Robin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Calderon tries to score with some ground and pound. Robin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Calderon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Robin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Calderon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Calderon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Robin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Calderon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Robin is looking for a sweep.
Calderon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Robin tries to bench press Calderon off him but Calderon keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We've been informed that Robin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Calderon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Robin has him pressed against the cage.

Robin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Robin throws a sloppy head kick and Calderon moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Calderon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Calderon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Calderon chips away with some ground and pound.

Calderon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Calderon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Calderon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Robin sprawls well. Robin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Calderon gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

As Robin tries to get set, Calderon tries to push him back and clinch up but Robin manages to avoid the attempt.

Robin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Calderon to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Robin is looking to stand back up but Calderon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Robin.

Calderon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Robin can do to turn this around?
Robin is trying to stand up here but Calderon is controlling him well.
Robin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Calderon is working away from the top position though.
Robin is looking for a sweep. Calderon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Calderon with the ground and pound but Robin uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Calderon stands up from Robin's guard - Calderon perhaps looking for a knockout.

Calderon rushes Robin and presses him up against the cage.

Robin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Calderon tries to clinch but Robin moves out of range.
Robin tries a head kick but it misses.
Calderon seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Calderon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Robin is trying to improve his position.

Calderon lands a few punches from side control.
You can see the frustration on Robin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Calderon creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Robin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Robin looks to move to half guard but instead Calderon has passed into mount! Damn!
Robin is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Calderon lands with some strikes.
Robin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Robin feints and as Calderon raises his hands in defense, Robin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Robin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Robin has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Calderon regains guard immediately.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Robin throws an elbow that misses. Calderon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Robin's guard. Nice move by Calderon!

Calderon chips away with some ground and pound.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

It looks like Rodrigo Calderon has been cut.

Robin is trying to trip Calderon. He has hold of a leg but Calderon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Robin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I would just about give that final round to Rob Robin.
I think Calderon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
