The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nexhip walks into a left hand.
Nexhip tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Backstorm manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nexhip shoots for a double leg takedown but Backstorm sprawls well. He's pushed Nexhip's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Backstorm dives in and scores a takedown into Nexhip's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nexhip is pulling down on Backstorm's head. It's preventing any offense from Backstorm, at least for the moment.
Nexhip kicks Backstorm off and gets to his feet.
Backstorm closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nexhip quickly recovers to half guard.

Backstorm jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nexhip walks away with a smile on his face. Backstorm gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Backstorm feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
