PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deyontay Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall has chosen Dance Till You're Dead as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Deyontay Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Hall!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan shoots for a double leg takedown but Hall sprawls well. He's pushed Jordan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jordan as he jumps to the side.
Jordan tries to clinch but Hall moves out of range.
Hall goes for a double leg but Jordan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jordan continues to drive forward.
Hall shoots in but Jordan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jordan is looking to counter the offense by Hall and move into the clinch.
Deyontay Jordan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Hall.
Jordan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hall sprawls well. Hall wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jordan gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall feints and as Jordan raises his hands in defense, Hall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hall lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hall wants to control from the top but Jordan keeps moving.

Hall drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jordan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hall has Jordan in his guard.


Jordan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hall throws a series of punches but Jordan avoids them all with ease.
Jordan ducks under a wild hook from Hall.
Hall blocks a head kick by Jordan.
Hall tries to clinch up but Jordan circles away and keeps his distance.
Jordan attempts a counter takedown but Hall avoids it well and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jordan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hall looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hall tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Jordan keeps control of the position easily here as Hall tries to buck him off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Jordan's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Jordan is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Jordan landing with strikes.
Jordan is controlling the position but Hall somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Jordan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hall looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jordan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hall does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jordan prevents Hall from standing back up.

Hall kicks Jordan off and gets back to his feet.
Jordan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hall.
Jordan appears to be looking for a big counter.
Jordan has a takedown stuffed.

Hall drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hall trying to control the action but Jordan is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Hall will probably get the nod.
That's time! Jordan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Hall has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jordan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Jordan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jordan tries to circle away but Hall has him pinned against the cage.
Jordan stops a takedown attempt from Hall.
Jordan wants a takedown.
Jordan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hall gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hall is trying to break the clinch but Jordan has him pressed against the cage.
Jordan tries to pull guard but Hall holds him up against the cage and eventually Jordan drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deyontay Jordan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jordan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hall lands with a nice combination. Jordan backs away looking to recover.

Hall pushes Jordan up against the cage in a clinch.
Hall is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jordan is trying to maintain a safe position but Hall gets an underhook and turns Jordan into the cage.
Jordan is trying to pull guard but Hall has him pressed against the cage.

Hall manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jordan or perhaps it was just good defense by Hall, which made it look bad.

Hall clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jordan wants to take the fight to the mat but Hall manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Hall goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jordan prevents it.
Hall tries to score a body lock takedown but Jordan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hall is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jordan is defending well for now.
Jordan gets underhooks to prevent Hall's takedown attempt.
Hall drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jordan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Hall misses with a takedown attempt
and Jordan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jordan.
Hall tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hall wants it to stay on the feet.

Hall avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hall fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jordan to the ground. Hall is now in Jordan's guard.
Hall wants to control from the top but Jordan keeps moving.
Hall lands a couple of digs.
Hall distracts Jordan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hall is working Jordan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Hall is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hall wants to pass the guard but Jordan is keeping the position.

Jordan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hall controls from within his opponent's guard.
Jordan is trying to control the position but Hall postures up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hall lands a couple of elbows.

Hall thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Hall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Jordan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hall manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Jordan forces his way into half guard.
Jordan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hall knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jordan stalling.

Jordan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jordan is looking to take a break and control but Hall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jordan has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Jordan jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hall is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hall and Jordan has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hall tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jordan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hall is trying to control Jordan's posture but Jordan avoids it.
Hall is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hall keeps trying to improve his position.
Jordan taking a break here but Hall is having none of it and regains half guard.

Hall pushes Jordan off and gets back to his feet.
Hall fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Jordan checks it well.

Hall clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jordan gets control of Hall's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jordan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hall makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hall wants to control from the top but Jordan keeps moving.
Jordan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jordan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hall is looking to control Jordan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hall avoid being mounted?
Deyontay Jordan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hall looks like he's trying to stand up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Deyontay Jordan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Matt Hall decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
