PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oberyn Martell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Konopka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Oberyn Martell !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Pete Konopka!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Konopka circles away quickly and effectively.
Konopka takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Martell moves forwards but Konopka connects with a nice, crisp jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Martell breaks the clinch.
Konopka stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

It looks like Oberyn Martell has been cut.
Martell takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Pete Konopka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Konopka gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Konopka keeping full guard, as Martell tries to pass.
Martell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Martell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Konopka pulls Martell in close to prevent any damage.
Konopka keeping moving, preventing Martell from controlling successfully.
Martell postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martell wants to pass the guard but Konopka is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Konopka showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Martell .
Konopka looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Martell tries to close the distance and clinch but Konopka swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Konopka swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Martell .
Martell misses the shot to the body.

Oooh a lovely combination from Konopka sends Martell down but not out. Konopka dives into side control looking to finish.

Martell is rocked!

Konopka stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Oh Martell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Martell walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Konopka swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
