Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alfonso Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Girard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Girard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Torres paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Torres wants to get back to striking at distance but Girard won't allow it.

Girard gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Torres is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Girard pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Girard throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Torres tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Girard is in Torres's guard.
Torres wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Torres is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

and Torres counters with a three punch combo that has Girard backing up. Girard nods at Torres to acknowledge the strikes.

Torres throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Girard drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Torres had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Girard defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Torres bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Girard's guard.

Girard controls Torres momentarily but Torres frees himself.

Alfonso Torres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Torres really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's time! Torres's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Torres will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Girard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Torres has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Girard has managed to get both his arms back between Torres's legs - danger averted.
